That this House notes that —
- the most recent available figures show that there are four times as many residential rehabilitation beds as there are residential withdrawal (also known as detox) beds in Victoria;
- people are unable to access rehabilitation services until they have been through withdrawal;
- the disparity between the number of residential rehabilitation beds and residential detox beds results in critical and often life-threatening delays to people’s recovery;
and calls on the Allan government to urgently fund more residential detox beds to ease this rehabilitation bottleneck.
